Bipersona exhibition by Enrico Mollica and Carlos Giordano
Metamorfosi, joint bipersonal art show of Carlos Giordano and Enrico Mollica, was born with the intention of reflecting on the many variations of form and color. The shape, the minimum sign of the image, can constitute an icon, or be particularly aniconic; the color, element that defines volumes and distances, is sometimes multitoned, sometimes monochrome but never absent. Through these polarities, harmonized and never in contradiction, this exhibition takes place, in which, painting after painting, the iconic forms of Giordano interpenetrate and turn into the mimic conformations of Mollica; on the other side the psychedelic colors of Mollica, converge in Giordano’s refined works. In this game of mimetic recognition, the singularity of the iconographic theme is not fundamental if not in the continuous mysticism of the transformation, aimed at a visual enchantment in the optical impression of a “horror vacui” of colors. A continuous flow, therefore, accentuated by the choice of the works: the exhibition is very rich, strongly tuned also for the dimensions of the works, which voluntarily leaves little space between a painting and the other just to facilitate the interpenetration of the optical impression in a vortex of seamless colorism, true common denominator in this intense and sudden transformations of forms.
Carlos Giordano bases his artistic research on the synesthetic impression of the image, aimed at evoking aromas and flavors, sometimes from distant lands, sometimes from a serene and intimate life. Whatever the theme and iconographic sequel, Giordano’s atmospheres are always full of emotion, they show suspense, suggesting an event about to happen, the moment of apparent calm, full of enthusiasm, before the feeling of intense happiness. It is a painting composed of precious details, of small gestures of habitual pleasure. The bright and nuanced colors, the choice of an effective exercise of joy, spontaneous and addictive.
