Tripersonal exhibition by Elena Giorgio, Nadia Torchia and Carlos Giordano
In this exhibition C. Giordano presents his new watercolor works. These recent works can be broadly divided into two groups: figurative and abstracts, although the difference is not always rigorous.
We remember the words of the artist’s dear friend and art historian Daniela Semprebene: “Giordano paints thinking about beauty which he is in love with: his works are surprising, just his painted red tomatoes are enough to fill a room, so much is the light they reflect: the red, the green of the leaves and the bright light of all his color…”.
Watercolors follow these concepts, although the colors have softened, blended and contaminated. Giordano uses watercolors with abundant freedom, the pigments follow the trace left by the artist’s hand and then they chase each other, come to a full stop or emerge from the pre-established shapes designed by Giordano. And therefore, a Danish seascape becomes very similar to an abstract work if there wasn’t for a small boat in the distance. A bouquet of flowers is just a stain of different colors recognizable only by the green branches.
His abstract works live within circumscribed unidentifiable geometric forms. Within these figures the colors dance and amalgamate, some manage to escape control and run away, others remain inside but creating great tension. In certain abstract works the two souls of Giordano can be glimpsed, yes do they reflect but do not touch, or are they heaven and earth?
A new exhibition “by the artist of the vital breath” as Edoardo Archimede Maria Liberius, another art critic, called him, who continues to surprise us with his versatility while maintaining the color strength of his palette.
